***long post warning***
This year, for our first Christmas, we had the chance to make a quick (as in QUICK) trip to Colorado. Friday night after Jordan got off work at 9 pm...we packed up the car and drove through the night. We made it to the house at about 5 am and were asleep within minutes. After sleeping for a few hours, we woke up to a busy house! It's always fun having so many people around.
Christmas Eve was so neat this year, and a few of the neighbors came over for the evening. Jordan's Grandma Oma is German, so we had the chance to participate in some German traditions! We had delicious German food, sang silent night in German, and played a white elephant game with candy. After the party people left, we then continued in German traditions! I learned (if I remember right) that in Germany, they don't set up Christmas decorations until Christmas Eve. The parents send their kids to their rooms as they cook and decorate. Then when it's time, the kids are allowed out to enjoy in the decor and loads of food! We had several different types of cold cuts, potato dumplings, sausages, apple strudels, German fruit cocktail cake, and so much more! Then after eating, they open gifts on Christmas Eve. So that's exactly what we did.
This year Jordan gave me a Real Salt Lake jersey donned with my favorite players name. The one, the only, Olave! A few other gifts I also opened were a pair of new snowboarding pants, some lovely mac make up, chocolate, disney movies and jewelry! Jordan got a J3LL watch, comfy sweats, a man (jewelry) box, and some sweet kicks. We also got a Jack LaLanne juicer, a magic bullet and some family pictures.
For Christmas day we ate a delicious breakfast, watched some movies, slept, ate a fabulous turkey dinner, slept, ate some more, and played some apples to apples.
It was perfect.
The only downside? Jordan had to work today at 3 pm...so this morning at 4 am James and Stacey (bless them) drove us to the Denver airport for our 6 am flight. (We sold Jordan's Escalade to his parents so we had to leave it at their house, hence the flight). Then my mom and dad drove us back to provo (bless them).
